I've been all out of character recently and doing crafts. Don't worry; I think it's just a phase.
I made some mini texture bags for Gregory since sensory play is all the rage these days. I basically just got scraps of material of various textures and made mini bean bags. One's from an old towel, one's from the lining of an old coat, one's from old slacks, one's from a shower curtain I hemmed, one's from the packaging of sheets, etc. I used poly pellets to fill them so they'd be washable. Oddly enough, Gregory likes chewing on the furry ones the most.

1. Cut two 4-inch squares of fabric. With right sides together, sew around the edge, leaving a 2-inch gap on one of the sides. 2. Trim corners. 3. Flip inside-out and fill 2/3 full with poly pellets. 4. Hand-stitch shut. 5. Play. I got the poly pellets from Jo-Ann's for about $4.00. (I used one of their 40%-off coupons from their website.) Wal-Mart used to have them for a few bucks, too. |
